Skye Manager Kenny MacLeod Steps Down | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
03 October 2023 Skye Camanachd first team manager Kenny MacLeod has confirmed that he will step down at the end of the season. MacLeod informed his players that the team’s last match of the season against Kingussie at the Dell at the end of the month will be his final game in charge. Kenny MacLeod took charge of the Skye Camanachd second team ahead of the 2017 shinty season and led the side for two years before stepping up to take the senior side ahead of the 2019 season, initially co-managing with Allan MacLeod. He took over in his own right in 2021, going on to lead them into Ferguson Transport & Shipping Balliemore success that season and the Mowi National Division title, won a year later, which ensured promotion to shinty’s top-flight. Under his stewardship, Skye confirmed their place in the Mowi Premiership for next season following the recent win over Oban Camanachd. Reflecting on his decision, Kenny MacLeod said: “It was a tough call, but seven years is enough, and I’ve accomplished what I set out to achieve with Skye again in the Premiership next season. “They are a great bunch of players to work with, so this is a fantastic opportunity for someone to take this group and kick on with some new ideas.” The list of previous Skye Camanachd managers since the club reformed in 1969 is as follows:
