07 May 2023 Skye Camanachd scored six times without reply to beat Lewis Camanachd in their HIS Sutherland Cup second round tie at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 6 May 2023. James Robertson bagged a double for Skye on 32 and 37 minutes in this 3.30pm throw up. His first came after good play from Alexander Macdonald and Taylor Matheson and Robertson made space in front of goal before turning home Matheson’s cross from the right. Just 5 minutes later, James Robertson lifted the ball over the keeper’s shoulder from the left of the D with Taylor Matheson again the provider. The players changed roles as James Robertson won possession on the right and Taylor Matheson, with his back to goal, allowed Robertson’s low diagonal ball to run by his before turning and scoring on his left side, making it 3-0 a minute before the break. Taylor Matheson got his second on 64 minutes, running in from the left to score low by goalie Stuart Campbell. Skye put gloss on the win with two late goals. Archie MacDonald turned the ball low to the keeper’s left from 20 yards out following a good break up the park on 86 minutes involving Taylor Matheson and Alasdair Stewart. Alasdair Stewart, a minute later, made the final score 6-0 with a neat turn and shot from just inside the penalty spot.
