06 August 2023 Taylor Matheson’s last minute goal sent the Skye Camanachd seconds into the HIS Sutherland Cup final with a 5-4 victory over the Glenurquhart seconds following an exciting semi-final at Craigard on Saturday 5 August 2023. Glenurquhart, who are hosting this year’s final, took the lead in this 2pm throw up through Neale Reid on 3 minutes but Shockie MacLennan equalised on 26 minutes. The Glen regained the lead through Charlie MacLeod on 29 minutes but Taylor Matheson on 40 minutes and Archie Millar a couple of minutes later had Skye 3-2 ahead at the interval. Taylor Matheson got his second on 50 minutes, giving Skye a 4-2 lead, but the tie took another twist as Neale Reid scored on 57 and 63 minutes to complete his hat-trick and make it 4-4. Then, with just seconds remaining, Taylor Matheson completed his hat-trick to give Skye a 5-4 win in this thriller. The Skye seconds will now meet the Newtonmore seconds in the HIS Sutherland Cup final at Blairbeg on Saturday 9 September 2023.
