02 July 2023 The Skye Camanachd second team extended their unbeaten run to five matches when they beat the Beauly second team 3-1 in their Mowi North Division 1 clash at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 1 July 2023. Skye manager Willie MacDonald was missing a host of players for this noon throw up and with keeper Calum Nicolson injured, under-17 goalie Archie Buchan was between the sticks whilst 13 year old youngster John Archie Tuncay was given a debut in defence. Iain MacInnes gave Skye the lead on 9 minutes after some good passing, but Finlay Dunbar took advantage of a defensive slip to level from a tight angle on 15 minutes. Seonaidh Alec MacLeod put Skye back in front on the half-hour, taking down a corner before finishing well. Skye’s Shockie MacLennan had a “goal” ruled out by referee Donjee Macleod and the Islanders had to be content with a 2-1 lead at the break. Seonaidh-Alex MacLeod then turned provider as he flicked the ball to Iain MacInnes who tapped home to score his second goal of the game which made it 3-1 a minute after the hour. Skye are now in third place in the division and only trail second placed Kinlochshiel on goal difference. Next up is a meeting with Kingussie in Portree this coming Saturday.
