Marine Harvest National Division Play-Off Rescheduled | |
26 September 2014 The Camanachd Association has ruled that the Marine Harvest National Division play-off between the Islanders and Ballachulish should be rescheduled for Saturday 1 November 2014. Skye Camanachd received an e-mail from the Camanachd Association on the afternoon of Friday 26 September 2014.
The Camanachd Association statement read: The Camanachd Association is clear that the reasons put forward by Ballachulish Shinty Club in their statement of 25 September 2014 did not provide sufficient time or grounds for postponement of a scheduled fixture. However, in reviewing the situation, the CA now recognise that due to the provisions in Bye-Law 3.5.1 relating to clubs failing to fulfil fixtures, the CA has been premature in confirming both Skye and Ballachulish as winners of their respective leagues. Under Bye-Law 3.5.1, in both North Division 1 and South Division 1, single or multiple failure to fulfil a scheduled fixture results in a penalty of two points being deducted from the offending team's league points for each failure. While such failure to fulfil their remaining fixtures is not anticipated, the possibility does exist in theory and for this reason the CA must now accept that neither Skye nor Ballachulish can be considered to have won their respective league until all their league fixtures are completed. As a result, the CA is therefore required to schedule each club’s remaining league fixtures for the coming weeks (as is currently the case) and reschedule the play-off for Saturday 1November 2014. The CA deeply regrets the situation and apologises for the undoubted confusion and inconvenience caused to Skye club members and supporters. Statement ends
It is not yet clear whether the reschedule match will also take place at Blairbeg or what the throw up time will be. |
