Fort William U17 2 Skye Camanachd U17 1 | |
29 August 2023 Skye Camanachd under-17 lost 2-1 in their London Shield semi-final (first leg) tie against Fort William under-17 at An Aird on Tuesday 29 August 2023. This was a repeat of the cottages.com MacTavish Juvenile Cup between the sides which the Fort edged 4-3 after extra-time. Skye made a strong start to the tie and created good chances before Oban Celtic player Joe MacVicar set up Jack Kearney to score. Fort William lost Archie MacKinnon who was withdrawn with an ankle injury but they still managed to double their lead before the break when James Clark played in Jack Kearney for his second goal of the game. Skye pushed hard and only some great goalkeeping from Owen Ohagan kept them at bay until Iain MacInnes pulled a goal back midway through the half. Skye went all out for a leveller but the hosts held on and they take a 2-1 lead into next week’s finely poised second leg.
