Caberfeidh 1 Skye Camanachd 5 | |
04 June 2023 Skye Camanachd turned in one of their best performances over recent times to beat Caberfeidh 5-1 in their Mowi Premiership at Castle Leod on Saturday 3 June 2023. Cabers were missing Connor Golabek whilst Skye’s Ross MacKinnon sat this one out with an ankle injury. Ross Gordon and Ruaraidh MacLeod both returned after missing the previous week’s Camanachd Cup tie between the sides which Cabers won 4-3 in Portree. Skye took the lead on 5 minutes when Ruaraidh MacLeod’s shot was saved but James Pringle ran in to hit the rebound into the net. Jordan Murchison made it 2-0 on 14 minutes when he went on a dribble which reached around 25 yards from goal, and he fired a bullet-shot through a ruck of defenders. Caberfeidh pulled a goal back on the hour when Craig Morrison’s low, 30-yard shot took a wicked bounce in the sandy goalmouth and went to the side of a helpless Murphy Henderson in the Skye goal. Jordan Murchison’s second goal was the pick of the bunch. The ball landed to Murchison just outside the D and he smashed it into the roof of the net to make it 5-1 with 10 minutes remaining. Caberfeidh’s Liam Symonds was sent off by referee Martin MacLean on 84 minutes. Symonds collected an initial yellow card for lashing out ahead of a Skye corner which was followed by a second yellow for a separate misdemeanour which took place before the corner could be taken.
