21 July 2014 Newtonmore won the 2014 Joe Toal Sixes at Spean Bridge on Sunday 20 July 2014. Newtonmore beat Spean Utd 3-0 in the final. The goals came from captain Scott Chisholm and a Paul MacArthur brace. The winning Newtonmore side was: Michael Ritchie, Andy MacKintosh, Michael Russell, Paul MacArthur, Evan Menzies, Calum Stewart, Scott Chisholm, Ally MacRae Runners up Spean Utd were: Lachlan Campbell, Stuart Callison, Brennan MacDonald, Danny Delaney, Barry MacDonald, Stuart Matheson This was the 31st Anniversary of the tournament and ten teams took part. Joe Toal died suddenly when playing for Lochaber Camanachd against Fort William in 1982. He was aged just 22. Lochaber Camanachd have since held a sixes tournament in honour of his memory and dedication to the club. |
